Not Sure What to Say

I haven't run out of things to talk about per say, just things that are relevant I guess. One thing I can say is though I'm following everyone from Tulalip, I harder have any blogs from. I'm not sure how I can motivate them to post more so that we can all create more discussions between us.

So I'm curious, how are other people's research papers coming? I've finally figured out what I want to do. It's Native Americans in media (movies) vs. reality! It sounds interesting to me at least. I couldn't find something that I wanted to write about for 10 to 15 pages so I explored the world wide web and got some ideas. I'll be spending some time in the library after school today if anyone wants some company while finding sources for annotated bibliography?

Other than that, anyone still need a partner for the artistic response? I'm really looking forward to working with someone and doing an amazing job, let me know.

  1. Hello Cassi

I agree in that it would be nice if we could get more of a discussion going. I dont have high hopes though considering most of us are students doing this for a grade. Just because we're required to post x amount does not make it more likely to create a discussion between us. I dont know much about those in Tulalip, what motivation they have to post on here. There are those like Paco and Kohl who are motivated to talk to us, let their experiences be known, and I bet there are many more like that. That doesn't mean things will just start without something giving them a push though.

I am curious how it went doing the annotated bibliography. In doing research did you keep your topic or find something else causing you to modify it in some way?

I'll work with you on the artistic response if you want. I don't really know what I want to do it on yet, but there is no shortage on possibilities. If you want to work with me feel to send me an email at dougjwjr@gmail.com, or just reply to this, it'll notify me.

  2. Hey Doug,

My bibliography went pretty well, boring really but I got a lot of information. Mostly about mascots but I'm going to watch some movies too, know any good native american movies?

For the artistic response I might be doing a skit for open mic night or a poster similar to Sherman Alexie's picture of him compared to a white child. To make it my own it's going to be the stereotypes of a native american vs. that of an average white child. The skit is going to be about stereotypes too if it happens.

  3. Interesting idea for the artistic response. I like your idea for the paper, i think that would be very interesting topic. I love those type of movies, although i often wonder which ones portray a "authentic" view. One movie you may want to look into is "last of the Dogmen" starring Tom Berenger. I have no idea how much truth is there but it presents a very interesting idea.
